Typical zones across Canada

Microclimates vary — coastal areas run warmer, valleys and elevations colder. When in doubt, choose the lower zone: hardier never hurts.

What hardiness zones actually mean

A plant hardiness zone describes the coldest winter conditions a plant can reliably survive. A plant rated for Zones 3–7 will handle a Zone 3 winter — and anything milder. That's why every plant we grow shows its zone range up front: if your zone falls inside it, you can plant with confidence. One zone colder is sometimes possible with a sheltered site, deep mulch, and winter protection.
